My answer to this question is a resounding YES! Of course every situation comes with it’s own pros and cons, but today let’s not be the Debbie Downers of the world, let’s look at the benefits of having a best friend in your partner!
Should your partner be your best friend? A lot of people say that your partner and best friend should be different people, you know, the whole thing of keeping all your eggs in one basket is never good? Get that? But when you really think about it, why wouldn’t you want your significant other to be your best friend? As someone you spend almost every day with, it should be normal to want your partner to be your best friend because this is some you like, love and talk about just about everything under the sky, right? I don’t know about you, but in my book, that’s a best friend. With that said, let’s look at the benefits of having a best friend in your partner.
- When a problem comes your way, your partner is the first person you go to.
This shows that your partner is your security blanket and that you trust him enough to share all the things that are bothering you. You know that he’ll give you the best and honest advice without hurting you.
- You are comfortable enough to be yourself in the relationship.
Feeling self-conscious around your person is not even an option. He knows you inside out and still loves your little quirks that would irritate a normal person on any day. Remember that being your true self is very important when it comes to sustaining a healthy relationship.
- You have inside jokes that only you two can understand.
There’s always that random laugh, sing-along or that dancing that only you two know and others look on either with envy or with admiration. Chances are you also use words that many would frown upon but somehow for you and your partner, that isn’t the case.
- You have more fun together than with your other friends.
Sex aside, you two can do just about anything and nothing together and have a blast doing it. If he entertains you more than anyone else, and you guys probably have TV shows, songs and movies that you can’t watch without the other, that right there is your best friend.
- You share each other’s clothes.
Ok, this one means you get to wear his hoodies, and sweatpants because lets face it, they look good on you and they’re comfy as well. He’ll completely understand when you don’t return them, he is your best friend after all. (If you’re reading this with him, make sure you highlight point 5)
There’s so much more to add on to the list but for today we’ll just go with just 5 points. When you think of spending the rest of your life with someone, you want that person to be someone that makes you happier than anyone else in your life, a person who is honest with you, makes you laugh, fights with and for you, that is a perfect definition of a best friend and life partner! Do you agree or disagree? Should your partner be your best friend? What is your answer be to this question? We really want to hear what your thoughts on this matter.
