The ravishing actress and beauty brand ambassador shares her journey into the entertainment and her role in ‘Broken Vows’.
Her beauty and sense of humour will captivate any audience watching her. The actress is back on our television screens as Thandi, a wedding planner workaholic, who is burdened with her family’s dark secret. Reynecke’s onscreen talent defies her childhood dream of being a veterinarian. She says, “I’ve always liked helping people and animals, but when I first encountered blood the nurse dream died quickly!”
She fell in love with drama and knew that she had found her calling when she got to high school. Her journey into the entertainment industry began when she met Duma Ndlovu while she was auditioning for The Lion King in Durban at the Play House.
“He seemed to like me for an upcoming part he had on Muvhango for Pearl Mdluli, a receptionist. The following year he called me and asked me to come to Joburg to audition. I did just that and got the part,” she says.
The 28-year-old takes inspiration from her role models: Sindi Dlathu, with whom she worked on Muvhango, and Hlubi Mboyi. She adds, “These stars have managed to keep their lives private and I think that has allowed them to live their lives peacefully, while letting their work speak for them.”
The actress feels honoured to be a part of the gripping storyline that has a stellar cast and adds that her role taught her that no job is designed for any individual personally. “When and if problems arise, you must learn to focus and work on the bigger picture and what really matters.”
She adds that, although she misses comedy and would like to be on such shows in the future, she is currently focusing on Broken Vows and is excited about other projects that might come along. She advises, “Do it! If the passion is there, don’t stop going for what you want. There is nothing better than seeing fresh new talent.”
