‘Evoquating’ to the wild in the world’s first luxury compact SUV convertible was the order of the day as South Africa’s VIP guests and media gathered in Pretoria to be the first to drive the new member in the Land Rover family.

On Friday, 2 December 2016, the road to North West province was abuzz as we all escaped in the new Range Rover Evoque Convertible to experience the wild
like never before. We dropped the tops and shot straight to connect with nature in the only vehicle that could take us back to our roots.

Our day started with a breakfast at Tashas in Menlyn Maine, a make-up session and sun block for protection, of course. Excited to put this Range to the test, we were briefed and instructed to follow the pre-installed directions on the navigation – destination unknown!

While driving we soon realised we were headed to another province, which meant a longer journey than we had expected. It really was a #CityEvoquation as the navigation took us to the Cradle of Humankind – back to our roots. Upon arrival at the Letamo Wildlife Estate, we were greeted by handsome bartenders waiting to serve us some mocktails (no drinking and driving!), and shown to a lounge where we could chill and a studio where we could pose against the natural backdrop.

After completing the fun activities, we headed to Forum Homini, where we enjoyed a three-course meal so that we wouldn’t have to head home on an empty stomach. Just when we thought the day was over, we realised our poses with the #EvoqueConvertible were not for naught – Land Rover gave each of us a framed photo as a gift to take home. We were also given Woolies’ straw hats, and the women all received a voucher for Mac cosmetics. It was indeed a lovely day in the wild!
