Over 50 Zambian designers and fashion lovers came together at the Zambia Fashion Week showcase, including the South African Khosi Nkosi as guest designer.
This year’s Zambia Fashion Week – themed ‘Design beyond the ordinary’ – took place at the Government Complex in Lusaka from 19 to 21 October 2017. Some of the creatives showcasing their latest designs included Kasonde Nkole, Richard Kasanda, Towani Clarke, Martha Kabaso, Charity Nyirongo, Yve Katongo, Teta Vundamina, Thandiwe Alifo, Lusungu Mudondo, Nelly Chama, Kabaso Nkandu Muleya Kalaluka, Duncan Kanyembo, Tendai Lwenje. Khosi Nkosi’s brand ambassador, Masechaba Ndlovu, added a special hint of elegance as she walked for the brand on the Saturday night, while SA TV personality Jessica Nkhosi made an appearance.
Karen Nakawala, director of the Zambia Fashion Week, said: “Zambia Fashion Week will continue to provide a platform for Zambian designers, as it gets better every year.” She also urged corporate companies and the Zambian people to continue supporting local designers, as they have the potential to grow the fashion industry in Zambia – and Africa as a whole.
