If you are young, trendy and looking for a well-priced car to suit your city motoring needs, look no further than the new VW Citi Vivo.

In an event held at The Tin Factory in Kramerville on Friday, 3 March 2017, we were treated to a sneak preview of the new Citi Vivo, which will soon paint the town red, yellow and blue! Two thousand units of the special edition Citi Vivo are planned for release in South Africa in celebration of the success of the Polo Vivo.

Greeted with red, yellow and blue cocktails, guests mingled and enjoyed light snacks as they got better acquainted with the three “guests of honour”, each standing proudly on display in the colours of the day. The visual history of the Citi Golf on poster boards as well as the cherry red authentic 1985 Citi Golf (oh, the memories!) served as strategic reminders of the 25-year journey of the brand.

Well-known South African actor, comedian, presenter and producer Siv Ngesi got the proceedings underway with his unique style of humour and introduced the panel of four VW experts, who shared their experience and history with the brand, from manufacturing to advertising, before the new television advertisement was revealed and exciting prizes handed out. These included advanced driving courses with VW, a branded watch and sunglasses, and one lucky person standing the chance to win a Citi Vivo for personal use for three months.

According to Stefan Mecha, Director: Sales and Marketing at Volkswagen Group South Africa, “Polo Vivo is a proudly South African car with German engineering ingenuity. About 70% of its parts are sourced locally, which has helped local suppliers to create jobs. Polo Vivo has the best resale value in its class.”

The Citi Vivo is based on the 1.4i Conceptline derivative, which has a power output of 55kW. In addition to the standard features of Conceptline, Citi Vivo gets 15-inch alloy wheels painted in white (similar to the original Citi Golf), side mirrors painted in white, door and tailgate handles in white and CITI decals. Optional features include cruise control, ultrasonic alarm system, front electric windows and front fog lights.

For a budget-friendly R177 300, the Citi Vivo is priced right for the first-time buyer – or for those who are just young at heart who love #freedomintheciti. Whether your colour is Cornflower Blue, Flash Red or Sunflower Yellow, step into a little 80s nostalgia and revive a brand that was gone for a while, but never forgotten.
