I’ve always been pro anything homemade. Perhaps it’s the raw, rustic nature of the product and the fact that there are no strange, possibly harmful ingredients or maybe it’s the notion that the product is made with love.
I treat homemade beauty products the same way I treat homemade cookies: as an absolute must-have! It also goes without saying that they also make fabulous, personalised gifts. Below is my recipe for a homemade body scrub.
- A beautiful jar
- Personalised label
- Coffee granules
- Coconut oil
- Zest of one small lemon
First, microwave two tablespoons of coconut oil combined with half a cup of granulated sugar and mix well. Add your desired amount of coffee grounds and the lemon zest. Spoon the mixture into your jar and customise to your discretion.
If you simply do not have the time to make your own, there are plenty homemade bath product brands, such as Jemima’s Boudoir. Having personally tried Jemima’s homemade soaps, I can vouch for how silky my skin feels after just one use. Jemima herself has stated that if she cannot pronounce the name of the ingredient, she will not put it in her soap. Sometimes simple is best!
