Buhlebendalo Mda, the only female in the internationally acclaimed acapella trio The Soil, tells readers about her calling in life. The songbird describes herself as a healer through music and she takes us back to where it all started. (see page 38 for more)

This October we also journey with the recipient of the Presidential Order of the Baobab, Professor Kgethi Phakeng. The Pretoria-born academic reveals how she broke the cycle of poverty through her passionate study of mathematics. On a lighter note, Africa’s first black conductor, Unathi Malunga, lets us in her world of orchestra and shares how she had to knock on doors to get recognised. Her hope is for South Africans to be afforded the opportunity to experience transformative beauty and power of orchestra. Our October real woman is style and image expert, Charmaine Moswane, who shows and tells us how it’s done in the real fashion world, and we take you through pages of fashion for a cause with our shades of pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In preparation for the summer months ahead, we show you how to liven up your living space with a natural touch with using neutrals.
